Alpha-TMS is designed in a modular way, so you only pay for the functionality that is truly necessary. With our “Docking” module, you and your carriers can easily and clearly manage when carriers arrive to load and unload and at which dock.
Depending on the amount of incoming and outgoing shipments and the number of available docks, it can get pretty busy during loading and unloading hours. Carriers may come to load or unload at the same time, or at unexpected times. There may be no docks available, or the warehouse may not be ready to receive or load the goods. This can lead to waiting times, and additional costs for waiting hours, frustration, and stress.
A calendar can be created for each loading and/or unloading location with the number of loading docks for loading, unloading, or both and the respective opening hours. Transport orders from the “Order” module are automatically linked to a docking order that becomes available on the calendar for scheduling. Docking orders can be scheduled on an available time slot by the shipper or, if desired, the carrier. The calendar clearly shows the docking status and whether the associated transport order has been confirmed. Carriers can easily delegate transports to charters or subcontractors.
The calendar automatically keeps track of available time slots and calculates loading and unloading times based on shipments volumes. The amount of time needed for a docking order can be set based on practical experience. It is also possible to create fixed time reservations if a particular carrier comes to load and unload regularly.
For transport that you do not organise yourself (for example, from your suppliers), you can send a unique link to your suppliers that provides them with access to your calendar. This way, you can allow others to schedule incoming and outgoing transport that is not organised with alpha-TMS. This function also makes the docking module stand-alone usable, without the other alpha-TMS modules.
